Government of Venezuela Spies on Thousands of Dissidents 24/7 Newspaper Claims
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro reportedly has a whole communication artillery to intercept communications from cellular calls and Skype, as well as communications via email and text messages.
According to a report published by El Nuevo Herald, his adminstration monitors opposition communication 24 hours, seven days a week.
Sources close to state security told US media that equipment to conduct such monitoring was acquired about two years ago.
The new systems can apparently intercept communications of thousands of people at once under the goal of “combating terrorism.”
Technology specialists explained to the newspaper that the US spy software is usually installed on computers, tablets, mobile phones and other devices without their owners realizing it, often through software upgrades.
