BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:45 P.M.) – The Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG) launched a big counter-offensive in the Afrin region of Aleppo, today, targeting the areas they recently lost to the Turkish-backed rebels.
The YPG forces began their counter-offensive by storming the recently lost town of Omarnli, which is located in the northern countryside of the Afrin region.
According to pro-YPG activists, their forces were able to take full control of Omarnli after a fierce battle with the Turkish-backed rebels inside this town.
Following the capture of Omarnli, the YPG recaptured several points around the town, forcing the Turkish-backed rebels to retreat further north towards the Turkish border.
The YPG have recently changed their tactics in the Afrin region by carrying out ambushes against the Turkish-backed rebels and then retreating back to their lines.
