The banking giant is to shut even more branches – and it’s telling customers to go to the Post Office instead

Lloyds Banking Group has announced a fresh wave of closures as it continues to strip back its high street presence.

The firm, which owns Halifax, Lloyds and Bank of Scotland is to shut 49 branches in addition to “painful” cuts in December.

In the latest round of cuts, a total of 1230 roles will be placed at risk – however it said 925 new positions will be created as it continues to expand its ‘mobile branch’ network.
