Powerful explosions have hit a military airport in the Syrian capital of Damascus, with no immediate report available on potential casualties or damage.
Sources said early Sunday morning that there were several explosions targeting an ammunition depot and other facilities in the Mezzeh airport in Damascus.
Multiple reports on the ground suggested the airport had come under attack by missiles which the Syrian air defense system managed to intercept.
Other sources said the air base was the target of an airstrike.
The airport, located to the southwest of Damascus, is a key military facility which has previously been attacked by Israel.
