THREE police officers and three migrants were hurt in skirmishes on the Bosnian border with Croatia, where hundreds of people have been trying to cross into the EU.
The migrants, who spent the night at the Maljevac crossing in the north-west of the country, hurled stones and glass at police and tried to push through cordons, said Bosnia police spokeswoman Sanela Djukovic.
Several dozen people remained near the crossing yesterday. Women and children could be seen holding banners pleading for the borders to open. Croatian police said they put up a fence on their side to stop the migrants from entering.
Thousands of migrants, including families, have been staying in north-western Bosnia — many camping out in the open — while trying to cross into Croatia and journey onward to other EU countries.
