The Trump administration has decided to pull all U.S. troops out of Syria, a defense official said today.

The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the decision covers the entire force of more than 2,000 U.S. service members and that the withdrawal is expected to occur as quickly as possible.

Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad scoffed and questioned US actions in Syria, calling American troops deploying to the country “invaders” because he hadn’t given permission for them to enter the country and saying there’s been no “concrete action” from the Trump administration toward ISIS.
