The infamous Jeffrey Epstein, 66 – who mingled with an array of famous faces – died in an “apparent suicide” after being found with “life-threatening injuries” in his NY jail cell yesterday morning.
Jeffrey Epstein unleashed a reign of sexual terror on young girls who he kept as ‘sex slaves’ before his sordid lifestyle was uncovered, court documents claim.
The 66-year-old reportedly hanged himself this morning at Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan, where he was being held on sex trafficking charges.
His apparent suicide came hours after hundreds of pages of court documents were unsealed alleging new details of sexual abuse claims against him.
Epstein, who was arrested on July 6, had pleaded not guilty to charges of sex trafficking involving dozens of underage girls as young as 14, from at least 2002 to 2005.
He previously admitted prostituting minors in 2008 and spent 18 months in prison after agreeing a plea bargain.
In legal documents, released on Friday, he is said to have had scores of schoolgirls come to his mansion and give him ‘massages’ which turned sexual.
The disgraced multimillionaire, who never married or had children, is claimed to have needed ‘three orgasms a day’ and when one woman didn’t make him orgasm she would allegedly be punished.
He also reportedly had a penchant for ‘threesomes with underage girls,’ it is claimed, and hired people to “recruit high school-aged girls” for him.
A 15-year-old Swedish girl was held hostage on his private island where her passport and phone were taken, it was alleged.
She was “crying and shaking” after she was allegedly forced to have sex with Epstein but refused.
Here are some of the allegations…
Ghislaine Maxwell, 57, the youngest child of media tycoon Robert Maxwell, started dating Epstein in 1992.
It is claimed she actively took part in recruiting young women for sex with Epstein, as well as scheduling the girls to come over, and maintaining a list of their names and numbers.
It is said she was known as the “madam” by the alleged victims.
She was described as the ‘perfect stranger’ and allegedly lured girls into her and Epstein’s home under the guise of a legitimate jobs, such as answering phones, a pretext that lasted only a day in one alleged victim’s case.
She would approach the girls while they were at college, it is claimed.
Maxwell has repeatedly denied the allegations against her and has not been arrested.
Euan Rellie, an investment banker who knew the couple, said Maxwell was the “charming, likeable front person”.
He added: “A big part of the reason people talked to him [Epstein] was because of Ghislaine.”
While author Christopher Mason described Maxwell as “saucy”, “fantastically entertaining” and someone who happily spoke about sex.
Now 35 and a mother of three, Virginia Giuffre claims the financier began abusing her when she was 16 or 17.
She was allegedly recruited from her job at Mar-a-Lago for sex with Epstein.
She claims she was taken all over the world on his private jet, dubbed the “Lolita Express.”
It is as a result of her legal action against Maxwell that the court documents have been released.
Johanna Sjoberg testified that Ghislaine Maxwell recruited her under the guise of a legitimate assistant position, but asked her to perform sexual massages for Epstein.
She claimed she was punished when she didn’t cause Epstein to orgasm.
She alleged on the second time she went to the house she was taken to Epstein’s bathroom where she and another woman massaged him.
She told officials: “She was showing me how to massage. And then she — he took — he got off the table, she got on the table.
“She took off her clothes, got on the table, and then he was showing me moves that he liked. And then I took my clothes off. They asked me to get on the table so I could feel it. Then they both massaged me.”
Maxwell allegedly referred to the other woman as her ‘slave’.
When Ms Sjoberg asked why Epstein received so many massages, she said: “He explained to me that, in his opinion, he needed to have three orgasms a day. It was biological, like eating.”
One young girl who claimed to have visited Epstein’s house alleged she climbed a narrow, winding staircase, past walls covered with photographs of naked girls.
She told the Miami Herald at the top of the stairwell was a vast master bed and bath, with cream-colored shag carpeting and a hot pink and mint green sofa.
The room was dimly lit and very cold.
There was also a vanity, a massage table and a timer, she said.
Hundreds of coded messages were found by police in rubbish bins and at Epstein’s Palm Beach residence in 2005.
Some were from underage girls who were calling to schedule a time to come over to see Epstein.
One message which allegedly reflected that a friend of Epstein is sending him a sixteen year old Russian girl for purposes of sex said: “He has a teacher for you to teach you how to speak Russian.
“She is 2X8 years old not blonde. Lessons are free and you can have your 1st today if you call.”
Another said: “She is wondering if 2:30 is o.k. She needs to stay in school.”
Other messages from unknown callers include communications such as, “I have female for him” and “want to know if she should bring her friend with tonight,” according to the documents.
After Epstein’s arrest, prosecutors said a search of his townhouse, conducted under a warrant, uncovered evidence of hundreds, and perhaps thousands, of nude photographs of “what appeared to be underage girls,” including some photos cataloged on compact discs and kept in a locked safe.
In a court filing on July 25, the government said it was pursuing an “ongoing investigation of uncharged individuals” in connection with the case against Epstein.
Police found a receipt from Amazon in his rubbish bin for books on the subject of ‘erotic slaves’ and how to use sex slaves, according to the court documents.
The books ordered in his name, included “SM 101: A Realistic Introduction,” “SlaveCraft: Roadmaps for Erotic Servitude” and “Training with Miss Abernathy: A Workbook for Erotic Slaves and their Owners.”
Tony Figueroa testified that he was told by Ms Giuffre about threesomes she had with Maxwell and Epstein, which included the use of strap-ons.
He also claimed Maxwell called him a number of times asking if he “had found any other girls just to bring to Jeffrey”.
Rinaldo Rizzo, a house manager for one of Maxwell’s close friends – Eva Dublin – testified through tears how, while working at Dubin’s house, he observed Maxwell bring a 15-year-old Swedish girl there.
In distress, the teen girl allegedly tearfully explained to him that Maxwell tried to force her to have sex with Epstein through threats and stealing her passport.
He testified: “[She was] very attractive, beautiful young girl. Makeup, very put together, casual dress.
“But she seemed to be upset, maybe distraught, and she was shaking, and as she sat down, she sat down and sat in the stool exactly the way the girls that I mentioned to you sat at Jeffrey’s house, with no expression and with their head down. But we could tell that she was very nervous.”
She claimed she had no idea how she had gotten to New York from “the island,” referring to Epstein’s compound in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
A spokesperson for Dubin denies the allegations in the unsealed filing, calling them “demonstrably false.”
Juan Alessi, Esptein’s house manager, testified that over a 10-year period that over 100 girls, who he was told were ‘massage therapists’, came to the house.
He said that when cleaning up after a massage of Espstein or Maxwell he found vibrators and sex toys.
Palm Beach Police confiscated an extensive lists of contacts with phone numbers from Maxwell and Epstein’s residence.
Maxwell is claimed to have maintained a contact list in an approximately 100-page-long hard copy, which was openly available to other house employees.
It consisted primarily of telephone numbers, addresses, or email addresses for various personal friends, associates, employees, or personal or business connections of Epstein or her.
There was also allegedly several sections entitled “Massage” alongside a geographical designation with names of females and corresponding telephone numbers.
These numbers reportedly included those of underage females with no training in massage therapy.
Maxwell allegedly told Virginia Giuffre she had to meet young girls in Thailand and bring them back to the U.S. for Epstein and her.
She would write the girls’ names down and arrange the times, it is claimed.
Another alleged Epstein victim, Sarah Ransome, said that Maxwell and Epstein kept her passport when she was trafficked to his private island.
She once allegedly tried to swim away before she was brought back.
Reports have claimed that girls as young as 12 were taken there for sex with Epstein.
There are allegations underage girls were used as sex slaves and repeatedly abused inside a temple on the island of Little St James, dubbed ‘paedophile island’ and ‘orgy island’.
He bought it more than two decades ago and created a high-security oasis, featuring the bizarre blue and white structure, complete with a gold dome, and a mansion.
‘Paedo island’, as it has become known, has remained Epstein’s main home to date but been shrouded in mystery.
The 78-acre island lies between St Thomas and St John, two of the largest islands of the US Virgin Islands in the Caribbean.
Sinister theories have emerged about its use, with neighbours calling it “our dark corner”.
The enormous stone mansion, with cream walls and a bright turquoise roof surrounded by maids’ quarters was built first, followed by the temple topped with a gold dome.
Speculation about the building, resembling a religious temple, has questioned if it was used for the child sex abuse Epstein was accused of.
A medieval-style lock on the front became a curious point of conversation for those working there, who suggested it could have been used to lock people inside with no escape.
The front is flanked by statues painted in gold; one which appears to be Poseidon, Greek god of the sea, and another that looks like a pair of birds.
It is surrounded by palm trees and a terrace with a labyrinth motif.
In a 2002 profile of Epstein from New York magazine, Donald Trump was quoted as saying: “I’ve known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy.
“He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.
“No doubt about it – Jeffrey enjoys his social life.”
The now US President later said he had fallen out with Epstein but didn’t divulge why.
At the height of his success, Epstein counted the likes of Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, Kevin Spacey, Woody Allen and Prince Andrew among his social circle.
Epstein would often ferry his powerful pals between his luxury residences on his private jet – a plane that would later be dubbed the “Lolita Express” by the press.
Born to working class parents and raised in Coney Island, Brooklyn, at the height of his influence in the 1990s and early 2000s Epstein had one of the biggest mansions in New York.
Having dropped out of college without getting a degree, Epstein was hired to teach maths and physics at New York’s exclusive Dalton School.
Ironically, the school’s principal, Donald Barr, was the father of US Attorney General William Barr – the man who would have overseen Epstein’s prosecution.
Epstein left the role after just two years after reportedly being scouted by Alan Greenberg, the chairman of investment bank Bear Stearns, while teaching his son.
Epstein was reportedly introduced to Prince Andrew in the 1990s through his friendship with his girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell.
In 2000, the prince was spotted holidaying with Epstein at Mr Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida, and in return Epstein was reportedly treated to stays in a number of royal residences.
Despite his extreme wealth and glamorous friends, Epstein kept a relatively low profile until the first allegations of sexual abuse and grooming emerged in 2005.
After Epstein pleaded guilty to child prostitution charges in 2008, Andrew and Epstein were photographed together following his release from prison.
But in 2015, the prince was dragged deeper into the scandal when one of Epstein’s victims said she had been forced to have sex with Andrew when she was just 17 on three occasions.
Buckingham Palace has repeatedly denied the claims.
It emerged in 2015 that Andrew’s former wife Sarah Ferguson accepted £15,000 from Epstein in 2010 to help pay off her debts.
