Ricky Gervais took aim at Prince Andrew at the Golden Globe award ceremony tonight, using the royal’s controversial relationship with paedophile Jeffrey Epstein to make a joke about Leonardo di Caprio’s string of younger dates.
Discussing the actor’s recent movie Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Gervais, 58, complained it was too long.
He joked: ‘Leonardo DiCaprio attended the premiere and by the end, his date was too old for him.’
Amid laughter from the star-studded audience, Gervais added: ‘Even Prince Andrew is like, ”come on Leo mate, you’re nearly 50, son”.’

He also spoke about Epstein, saying: ‘In the end, he obviously didn’t kill himself, just like Jeffrey Epstein.’
This prompted groans from the Hollywood crowd, to which he responded: ‘Shut up. I know he’s your friend, but I don’t care. You’ll have to make your own way here in your own plane.’

Andrew, 59, strenuously denies having sex with the financier’s ‘sex slave’ Virginia Roberts and claims he can’t remember meeting her despite a photograph of him with his arm around her.
In recent months the Duke of York has stepped back from royal duties and been dropped by a number of charities amid the furore that followed his BBC interview on his friendship with Epstein.
Hollywood had been braced for controversial comedian Gervais’ return and he did not disappoint, with his opening monologue being met with a series of gasps.

Stars including Leonardo DiCaprio, Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro watched on as Gervais said it was a ‘big year for paedophile movies’, mentioning Surviving R Kelly and Leaving Neverland, before adding ‘The Two Popes’.
Gervais then turned his fire onto the box office bomb Cats, saying: ‘The world got to see James Corden as a fat pussy. He was also in the movie cats, but no one saw that.’
The comedian then made a lewd joke about Corden’s Cats co-star Dame Judi Dench.
She defended the film, Gervais said, because ‘it was the role she was born to play’.
‘I can’t do this one,’ Gervais sniggered, before delivering the punchline.
‘Because she loves nothing better than plonking herself down on the carpet… and licking her own minge.’
He then made a gagging sound, adding ‘fur balls’.

Gervais also blasted ‘woke’ Hollywood for being hypocritical and told them to ‘collect your award and f**k off’ at the 77th annual Golden Globes.
While standing onstage at the International Ballroom Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, Gervais cautioned the star-studded crowd against making their acceptance speeches political.
‘You say you’re woke, but the companies you work for are unbelievable. Apple, Amazon, Disney – If ISIS started a streaming service you’d call your agent wouldn’t you. So if you do win an award tonight don’t use it as a platform to make a political speech, he said.
‘You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg. So if you win, come up, accept your little award, thank your agent and your god and then f**k off.’
He later added: ‘Many talented people of color were snubbed… there’s nothing we can do about that. The Hollywood Foreign press are very racist.’
