The challenges posed by Covid-19 will not disappear on June 21 just because restrictions are lifted, Surrey Police has said.

In a Facebook Live Q&A session Chief Inspector Adam Smith reminded viewers after that date, on which the PM hopes to remove all legal limits on social contact, coronavirus is something officers will continue to police around.

Speaking in the video on Monday (March 15), he said: “While the restrictions are lifting on June 21, hopefully, there will still be an impact and it [Covid-19] won’t just get switched off.

“We will still be out there and I think we’ll find people getting sick, things like PPE are still going to be there and police officers will still have to go and deal with people who they know or believe to have Covid.”
