London to bask in 20C mini-heatwave as sunshine returns

ondon is set to bask in a mini-heatwave today as temperatures soar after a week of washouts.

Meanwhile, there will be a mixture of sunny spells and showers across the country with parts of eastern, central and southern England being fairly cloudy.
The weather is expected to be warm until the evening, especially in the east and southeast.

The beginning of next week will be similar with sunny spells.
However, the Met Office has warned of heavy showers at times “with a risk of thunderstorms.”
A spokesperson said Monday to Wednesday would be “generally unsettled with a mixture of sunny spells and showers, as well as some more prolonged periods of rain”.
“Some heavy bursts likely at times with a risk of thunderstorms,” they added.
Saturday saw gales and torrential rain across the country as a week’s worth of rain fell in 24 hours in some areas.
Brecon Beacons in South Wales saw 125 mm of rain and The Environment Agency issued a flood alert as two rivers in the Midlands rose following a night of heavy rain.
