Russia-Ukraine talks begin in Istanbul

Here is today’s Foreign Policy brief: Russia-Ukraine cease-fire talks kick off in Istanbul, Shanghai locks down amid surging COVID-19 cases, and El Salvador declares a state of emergency to confront gang violence.

Russia will likely demand it’s principal ‘security demand’ that no threatening activity takes place on Russian speaking borders,that no missiles be placed there and that Ukraine stay OUT of defensive alliances and be a NEUTRAL state.


(Is that too much to ask when your people are being slaughtered every day by a powerful military)
