What’s new?

  • Russian forces struck five railway stations in central and western Ukraine on Monday, and are “continuously attacking” the encircled Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol, the shelter for hundreds of civilians and Ukrainian soldiers.
  • The city of Kherson has fallen to Russian control, with Russia announcing it will stage a vote in the broader occupied Kherson region — which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called a “sham referendum.”
  • The UN chief is visiting Moscow on Tuesday to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and will meet Zelensky in Kyiv later this week.
